Mission & Vision



Great Expectations Ministries is a 501 c3, Non-Profit Outreach Ministry of New Creation Baptist Church. We serve to create an environment where second chances are available and new tomorrows are possible by providing residential, educational, social, and emotional services for the development and enhancement of community life.

Goals

  • To Work to dismantle the pipeline to prison by providing education, social and enrichment services to youth in our community
  • To work to dismantle the pipeline to prison by providing services to assist those in need of becoming positive contributing members of the community
  • To work to dismantle the pipeline to prison by developing partnerships with local organizations and businesses to create a network of spiritual, social, educational support and vocational opportunity.

Job Training Program



Two Jobs Training Workshops have been provided to residents in the community based on the curriculum developed by the University of Michigan. The training begins by first having the participants discover hidden strengths they posses but did not recognize they had. From that premise of strength building the program participants then move forward with interviewing skills and resume preparation and network building. Partnerships were developed with local neighborhood business to provide employment opportunities



Great Expectations Music Project



This project was designed to fulfill a gap in the educational program for children in the city of Lorain. In that the city did not have an elementary music education program, the Music Project was established to fil the gap. Studies have shown that music education has a direct correlation to academic achievement. Results from this program have proven to support this research. Although the population that this program can be transient over 60% of the program participants showed improvement of at least one grade level in at least one subject.
